Eczema Cream

Hydrocortisone cream is a cream which can be used to control mild eczema. When looking for eczema treatments, the quickest option is this cream because you can easily buy it over the counter in most countries.

The beauty of Hydrocortisone cream is that it is cheap and you can only use it in very small quantities which means that it will take long before you replace it. Before you apply it on your face, you may need to consult the physician but still as long as you apply small amounts, it is safe.

It is important to reteirate that this cream may not cure eczema but it provides the much needed control required by anyone with an eczema condition.

What is eczema?

There are several definitions for eczema but for the purpose of understanding the treatments for eczema which is our main focus here, we shall use the one that follows below.

According to an authority site Wikipedia which is the online encyclopedia, eczema is a disease in a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the epidermis. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes that are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. Areas of temporary skin discoloration may appear and are sometimes due to healed lesions. Scratching open a healing lesion may result in scarring. Eczema may be confused with urticaria. In contrast to psoriasis, eczema is often likely to be found on the flexor aspect of joints.

Eczema Treatment

It is widely generally accepted that eczema treatment is not available at the moment. However, available medications are only used for suppressing and relieving the discomfort caused by this disease. These medications include steroids such as hydrocortisone which can be purchased over the counter in most countries and has proved to be very helpful in cases of mild eczema. This means that severe eczema may require a more powerful steroid in which case, you may need to see a doctor to prescribe eczema treatment.

Controlling eczema

The best way to control eczema is to keep the skin moisturised by using several alternative creams. I will be talking about such creams in my next discussion but what is important now is for you to understand the importance of keeping the skin moist at all times.

Another form of controlling eczema is through avoiding ordinary soap as it may contain chemicals that exacerbate the condition. There are actually soap free body cleansers which can be used and can act as if they are real eczema treatment as well. I will expand on this point also in the next discussion.

There also simple routines such as drying the body softly but thoroughly after bath or shower especially in between jointed and hidden areas. It is these simple tips that help  as eczema treatment and keep it at bay.

Sometimes putting on cotton cloths may also help but it is important for you to pay close attention to how your body responds to different clothing.

Eczema bodies can be allergic to different things and even conditions such as dusty environments or items that you may come in contact with. You really just have to identify what exactly is not friendly to your body and adjust accordingly.
